WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
NCAE Cyber Games is a competition for college students who have never participated in a competition or hackathon before. Competitions are a great way to build your skills and learn about the industry, but they can be intimidating if you’ve never tried one before. This program aims to make it easy (and fun) for students to see how competitions work and learn with others who are also new.
WHY SHOULD I COMPETE IN CHALLENGES?
If you’re thinking about pursuing a career in cybersecurity, participating in cyber competitions provide several big benefits:
- It looks great on your resume. Employers view competitions as proof that you have hands-on-keyboard experience and know how to work as part of team.
- It helps you find your place in the field. Competitions give you a chance to try out the different job roles and tasks in the field so you can start getting a feel for the roles that you find motivating and fulfilling.
- It helps build your network. Employers pay attention to collegiate cyber competitions, often sending recruiters to events to scout new talent. Competitions are also a great way to connect with other students who are interested in the field to start building a network of future professional colleagues.
- It’s fun and you could win prizes and cash! Cyber competitions typically offer some pretty nice prizes, including cash and who doesn’t want more of that?
WHO CAN JOIN?
NCAE Cyber Games is open to any undergraduate student enrolled at an institution that is currently designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) by the National Security Agency. Visit the CAE Community Map to see if your college qualifies.
